Players take on the roles of familiar slapstick cartoon characters in Tom and Jerry in Fists of Furry. Gameplay follows traditional fighting games except that instead of mystic ninjas or street warrior champions, players choose to take on the role of Tom, Jerry, Spike, Duckling, or one of several other 3D rendered characters from the Tom and Jerry cartoons. In addition to the fists mentioned in the title, fighters can also use familiar household items like frying pans, drainpipes, and freshbaked pies as they step into one of the nine arenas to to battle.

These later Tom & Jerry shorts directed by Abe Levitow all have a snappy, bright feel to them. They’re excessively sound tracked in a way that today sounds a bit dated, but if you give it a chance, it’s fun and brisk, and I always feel giddy when Tom goes *spat!* against something hard and the music plays a loud, jazzy “foowhouwow!”

In the city of London, a crook is stealing jewels around the Scotland Yard, and Red, a beautiful singer, is being framed for this crime. Tom and Jerry, as assistants, must help Sherlock Holmes look for clues and track down the real thief to solve this case.
